Stories About Myself
This project challenges me to represent various aspects of myself through graphics and form with symbolic, iconic, indexical, and connotated meaning. Start by mind-mapping different qualities, I would be dissecting myself in every possible way in order to pull out my six fundamental elements that makes me who I am. Eventually, I must consider how these six pieces would be presented, how meaning would be perceived and communicated to the viewers.
tête-à-tête
~A private conversation between two people~
This is a continuous conversation between two fish, my left and right brain, the logic part and creative part of me.
My left brain is a fish made out of broken glasses because I constantly dropped my water bottle and crushed it into pieces. Inside the glass shell, my logic is a dying balloon, trapped with the fixed shape. My right brain is a skeleton fish made out of wire, because all the scales are scattered around. Two of them shall never crush into one another, or else it would be a disaster. |

I am a person who got trapped in my own thought too often too much. Some thoughts pass by in a blink of eye, some never being able to find their way out.
I am a person who like to have a conversation with myself everyday in a closed, intimate space. It helps me to examine myself in a different perspective. The two fish are the sign of Pisces as I do obtain many qualities that resonance this constellation. |

OOXX
~So who do you want to be today~
I remembered playing the paper doll cut-out when I was a child. I got to decide what clothes it wears and manipulates its identity through this activity.
Ironically, now I feel as if I am the one that gets manipulated all the time. It is a struggle for me not to think about how other perceived on me, and that alters my decisions and choices most of the time. Ultimately, constructed who I am as a person. |
DAILY STRUGGLE
~Every move is pain as long as the light burns~
The attentions were instantly drawn to the light, for it was bright and warm and beautiful. As human beings, we are naturally looking towards things that convey a positive meaning. And then they see the nails (silver-painted tooth sticks) that were surrounded the frame as well as the shadows expended by the light, the sense of isolation was made.
In that 10 x 10 frame, a pair of feet, my feet, was trapped within that standard of beauty. However, the feet almost gets ignored due to the flatness of the photograph. |
